75th Anniversary Of VE Day

At Stokes Partners we’re passionate about what we do.  Our greatest passion is the help and support we provide to our clients and our community.  We make sure that we go the extra mile to provide specialist legal advice and first class service to the clients who trust us with their legal issues.   We’re doing our utmost to provide as close a service to “normal” as we can in these strange and difficult times.  Some members of staff are in the office, others are working remotely.  Everyone is doing all they can to find ways of helping clients and progressing their work whilst protecting everyone’s health and wellbeing.  Some of our staff have developed expertise in remote court hearings.  Others are working closely with other firms to find ways of completing property transactions even within lockdown.  Our Wills and Probate team are being particularly innovative when it comes to witnessing important documentation whilst maintaining social distancing – Wills have been witnessed from gardens through open windows, through closed car windows.  If there’s a way of making things happen we’ll do everything we can to help.

Our second greatest passion is cake.  Stokes Partners is a firm that runs to a large extent on regular injections of sugar.  Birthdays are taken VERY seriously as are any other occasions that can justify the provision of cake.  We have a number of talented bakers in our team and sometimes we’re spoiled “just because”.

We’re all mindful that Friday next week sees the 75th anniversary of VE day.  An extraordinary period of human endeavour and endurance.  And an occasion to be marked especially at a time when so many people are going to the most amazing lengths to help and support their fellow human beings at this time of crisis.  We’ve already put in place our window display to say thank you not only to those who did so much in 1945 but to those who are doing so much for us all right now.

And on Thursday we’ll be marking the coming celebrations by combining our two great passions.  Nicola McIntyre who heads up our Wills and Probate team had the inspired idea of a delivery of cakes for staff and residents at some of our local care homes.  Hillary Askew has sourced some wonderful VE day themed cupcakes from Jessica Cakes and Bakes (https://www.facebook.com/JessicaCakeBakes/  https://www.instagram.com/jessicacakesbakes/  https://twitter.com/JessicacakesB  ) and on Thursday May 7 Natasha Starnes will collect the goodies so that they can be delivered to residents and staff at The Orchards in Crewkerne, Careford Lodge in Merriott and Moorlands also in Merriott.

We managed to get some photos of the cakes before they were delivered – they look fabulous.  They were counted carefully in and out of the office just in case anyone felt peckish…

We really hope that the recipients enjoy the delivery and that cake makes them all as happy as it does all of us at Stokes Partners!
